FAQs

What is CrimCon?

CrimCon is an academic criminology and criminal justice conference, delivered virtually.

When is CrimCon?

The Conference will take place virtually in October. See the program for more details.

Why should I submit an abstract and participate?

You are doing amazing work want to share your research in a new way — and we all want to hear about it.

How should I list this on my CV?

List your conference paper as having occurred at the Annual Meetings of the Criminology Consortium.

We like CrimCon as a name, but we understand that promotion and tenure committees and hiring committees might not.

Who can submit a presentation abstract?

Anyone who is doing original research related to crime or the response to crime — typically called criminology and criminal justice. We welcome presentations in English from all countries and all academic disciplines focused on topics related to crime, criminal justice, or public policy.

This is a real academic conference delivered virtually — everyone doing research who is affiliated with a university, research organization, or criminal justice agency is encouraged to submit their work.

What’s the registration fee?

Zero dollars (please convert $0 USD to your local currency).

Really?

Really.

How are you making money?

We’re not. So far, we’re losing money. We’re academics, not business people.

Can I donate a few dollars to help you out?

Awwww. You’re nice. We like you, and we like your money too.

CrimCon is a non-profit corporation, initially self-funded by its founders. Every little bit helps us keep the server up, so if you’re willing and able to donate, we’d appreciate it. Donations to CrimCon are not tax-deductible at this time.

Who are you?

We’re academic criminologists and criminal justice researchers who love research and want to make sure that you have an outlet for your work. We also want to change how academic conferences work in our field, and we have some great ideas for that in the future. Stay tuned.
